He intended to save rare fruit varieties that might be lost forever when an orchard was closing down. In spring, the tree blooms in many different colors, then produces plums, peaches, nectarines, cherries and almonds!

In England, the City of London has set a lofty goal. By October, they plan to get all their energy from renewable sources! The city will install solar panels on government-owned buildings, buy clean energy from the grid, and invest in other renewable energy projects. Maybe they’ll inspire other cities to do the same!

In Melbourne Australia, the trees have e-mail addresses. The city assigned one to each tree, thinking it would be a handy way for people to report problems like dead branches. Instead, people are writing love letters to the trees! The tree-mails show how much Melbournians care about their beautiful trees!

Everything’s more fabulous with glitter on it. Even pizza! A pizzeria in Santa Monica California named DagWoods, makes a magical looking pizza covered with edible glitter. The sparkles are different colors, so every slice looks like a rainbow. I think this must be what unicorns eat when they have a pizza party!

A couple’s security cameras captured a burglar in action, in South Tahoe California. The 7-foot, 300 pound thief was a black bear, who forced open a kitchen window to get some snacks. He ate M&M’s, maple syrup, and cinnamon raisin bread. Last November, the same bear pushed their front door in to raid the refrigerator!

In the Northern Hemisphere, today is the longest day of the year, known as the summer solstice. At the North Pole, the sun will be shining for 24 hours! In Earth’s Southern Hemisphere, however, today is the winter solstice, with the fewest daylight hours. The South Pole won’t see the sun at all!
