BMF: Big Macs Forever

You could say Don Gorske, loves Big Macs. He’s been eating two a day at McDonald’s, for the last 46 years! He hit a milestone last week by eating his 30 thousandth Big Mac, and made it an official world record by submitting all his receipts to Guinness. I don’t think that record will ever be broken!

Non-Plastic Water Bottles are Coming

James Longcroft wanted to sell bottles of water in the United Kingdom to raise money to provide clean drinking water in Africa. But the bottle had to be completely biodegradable and non-toxic to ecosystems, and inexpensive. Named Choose Water, the bottles are made of a special paper, and all profits will go to his charity, Water For Africa.

Robotics to the Rescue

When robotics engineer Milind Raj saw a puppy in trouble on his morning walk, he flew in to help. The puppy was stuck in a drain in Uttar Pradesh India, that would have been too dangerous for a human to enter. Milind got his drone, attached a robotic arm, and piloted a puppy rescue!

That’s a Lotta Piñatas

During the ¿Que Pasa? Festival in Richmond Virginia, 1013 piñatas made of tissue paper and papier-mache were hung up along the canal, to set a world record for largest display of piñatas. After an exhibition, the piñatas will be filled with school supplies instead of candy, and donated to local schools.

Mind the Gap

A giant sinkhole has opened up in New Zealand! In an area known as Earthquake Flat, the hole appeared overnight. The 66 foot deep opening in the earth, is fascinating to geologists and volcanologists. The bottom is 60,000 year-old volcanic deposits, with millennia of sediment and ash layers rising up, and it’s all clearly exposed!
