Pi Day is Coming

People get excited about Pi Day, which is March 14th. The College of Idaho Math Club is planning a world record attempt with 600 people representing the first 600 digits of pi. The Boston Museum of Science set a U.S. record for the most shaving cream pies thrown at once. What are you planning for Pi Day?

A Circus With Heart

If you live in Chicago, you may have seen the Midnight Circus. This special show features acrobats, clowns, aerialists, and rescue dogs! Pit bulls Junebug and Rosie Ray are the stars of the show. All the profits from ticket sales are donated to parks in the Windy City, totaling  nearly $1,000,000 so far!

Baby Penguin Gets the Best Name

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio has had a baby boom this year! They introduced five Asian small-clawed otter pups born to parents Peanut and Gus, a silvered leaf langur monkey born to parents Patty and Thai, and a Humboldt penguin chick born to parents Katja and Hans. She’s named Her Majesty Gertrude Sprinklebottom!

Fonio Fights Hunger

There’s a new grain in town called fonio. Fonio is a gluten-free grain grown in West Africa. It needs very little water, has more protien and fiber than brown rice, and it can be harvested three times a year. It’s similar to couscous and easier to pronounce than quinoa. It’s a super-grain!
