If you noticed a bunch of gnomes gathered in a mushroom shape in Atlanta Georgia, you weren’t seeing things. 755 people dressed up as garden gnomes, to break a world record! Chantelle Rytter and the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons had been trying to gather enough participants for the last decade, and finally succeeded!

Laser Contacts, Just Because

Scientists have invented laser eyeballs! Well, not exactly… They actually created a thin film that emits laser light, and attached it to a contact lens. The lasers could also be attached to things like money or fingernails. Now they just have to figure out a good use for them, other than bragging about having laser eyes!

Star, Planet, and Meteor Gazing

May and June will be great months to look at the planet Jupiter. It’ll be bright throughout the night, in the constellation Libra. While you’re planet-gazing, look for reddish Mars, and bright sparkling Venus. The mornings of May 4th and 5th, Saturn will be near the moon. Eta Aquariid meteors should peak that night! Watch those skies!

Virtual Reality Gets Realer

Disney is taking Virtual Reality one step further. They’ve developed a Force Jacket, which has inflatable pockets to create “feel effects,” like a hug, or a snake slithering over your body! It can even give you the sensation of having big superhero muscles, or getting hit by a snowball! Ouch!

Big Feet Spotted in Texas

A 15 year-old Texas boy has the biggest teenage feet in the world! The 6-foot-3 teenager had his feet measured for the Guinness World Record, and they’re 33.1 centimeters long. Hunter Harrison’s size 18 feet have a ways to grow if he wants to beat the record for biggest feet at any age: 38.1 centimeters, or size 29!

Happy May Day! May 1st is often celebrated as the beginning of spring. Give people flowers and dance around a May pole! In Hawaii, it’s also Lei Day.
