Scientists have invented laser eyeballs! Well, not exactly… They actually created a thin film that emits laser light, and attached it to a contact lens. The lasers could also be attached to things like money or fingernails. Now they just have to figure out a good use for them, other than bragging about having laser eyes!

There’s an ice cream shop in North Carolina that has an adorable mascot: Putter, the squirrel who loves ice cream cones! Scott and Pam Martin, owners of Fantasy Isle Ice Cream and Mini Golf, make tiny vanilla cones twice a day for Putter. Putt-Putt also likes to play with golf balls. Customers love him!

Today is National Truffle Day. The chocolate truffle is a ball of rich, creamy chocolate ganache, covered or filled with a variety of other ingredients. Delicious! Oh, you don’t like candy? Then you can eat the other kind of decadent truffle: the extremely expensive fungi grows underground and is found by truffle hogs or dogs.

May and June will be great months to look at the planet Jupiter. It’ll be bright throughout the night, in the constellation Libra. While you’re planet-gazing, look for reddish Mars, and bright sparkling Venus. The mornings of May 4th and 5th, Saturn will be near the moon. Eta Aquariid meteors should peak that night! Disney is taking Virtual Reality one step further. They’ve developed a Force Jacket, which has inflatable pockets to create “feel effects,” like a hug, or a snake slithering over your body! It can even give you the sensation of having big superhero muscles, or getting hit by a snowball! Ouch!

A 15 year-old Texas boy has the biggest teenage feet in the world! The 6-foot-3 teenager had his feet measured for the Guinness World Record, and they’re 33.1 centimeters long. Hunter Harrison’s size 18 feet have a ways to grow if he wants to beat the record for biggest feet at any age: 38.1 centimeters, or size 29!

42 big businesses in the United Kingdom have signed the UK Plastics Pledge. Corporations such as Tesco, Asda, Unilever, Coca-Cola and PepsiCo will meet goals over the next 7 years to cut out plastics. Companies have to make plastics 100% recyclable, compostable, or reusable to be sold in the supermarkets. The first step is to reduce excess plastic packaging.
