Cool Cars Cruise Chattanooga

If you’re near Chattanooga Tennessee, plan to attend the Scenic City Art Car Weekend presented by Art 120. An Art Car is a structure with wheels that’s decorated with paint, sculpture, or anything else you can think of! An Art Car-A-Van will be visiting schools this week, and car-tists will be inspiring people all weekend with their creativity!

Running 26 Miles Isn’t Enough?

Last weekend, the London Marathon resulted in 34 new world records! There was the fastest marathon on stilts, and the fastest people dressed as a carrot, Star Wars character, cheerleader, man in a wedding dress, and Forrest Gump. Even the weather participated: it was the hottest London Marathon on record, at a balmy 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Video from the Surface of a Comet

The ESA, or European Space Agency, had been studying a comet named 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Photos were taken by the Rosetta spacecraft in 2016, and Twitter user “landru79” compiled them into a time-lapse video. The amazing result shows cosmic rays, ice and dust, against a cliff thousands of feet tall. Search: “Comet 67 video”, to see it yourself!

Throwing Pots For Charity

An art teacher in Medford, Wisconsin wanted to raise money for a food pantry with her students. She decided to do it by breaking a world record! Jill Fortin made 261 clay pots on a pottery wheel, in one hour. The art club raised $1000 for the food pantry, and kindergarten classes will decorate the pots and plant flowers.

Good Dog!

An Australian dog named Max is a hero! Max is 17 years old, deaf, and partially blind. But when his owner’s 3 year-old girl wandered off, he followed along with her. Max stayed with Aurora for 15 hours until a search party got close. Then he met the toddler’s grandmother and led her right to Aurora!

It’s National Telephone Day! Can you imagine a time without phones? In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell received the first patent for a telephone. A patent gives the owner the rights to their invention. Elisha Gray and Antonio Meucci also invented versions of the telephone, but Bell got his patent first! Talk to someone on a phone today!
