Masers were hard to use because they needed extremely cold temperatures. But researchers grew an artificial diamond that allows a maser to work continuously at room temperature! Kids Take a Stand, Adults Listen

Yesterday, thousands and thousands of kids across both the United States and the world, participated in marches to end gun violence. Some kids also attended rallies supporting guns. Children like 11 year-old Naomi Wadler and high school senior Emma Gonzales gave powerful speeches asking the government to change gun laws. Kids can make a difference!

Can Bubbles Stop a Hurricane?

Researchers in Norway are working on a way to prevent hurricanes: with bubbles. Since hurricanes form when water temperatures reach about 80 degrees Fahrenheit, they believe pumping a “bubble curtain” of cold water from deep in the ocean will help to cool the surface. Once the surface temperature cools, storms may lose power.

This Kid is a Rock Star

Canadian boy Judah Tyreman loves rocks. TheĀ 13 year-old earned enough money to rent a building to display his rock collection in Radisson Quebec. After his Sesula Mineral and Gem Museum was robbed last week, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum offered Judah all their duplicate specimens, people raised money, and the museum can reopen. Rock on!
