That Was One Awesome Concert

A new world record for most mariachis performing simultaneously was set over the weekend, in Robstown, Texas. More than 800 musicians in 42 mariachi bands performed “Las MaƱanitas” together. They had to be dressed in full mariachi garb, including sombreros, to beat the current record set in Mexico, where mariachi music originated.

Little Willand is Growing Up

The English village of Willand in Devon is rising up. The elevation of the entire town and surrounding fields, is growing by 2 centimeters every year! While the change is gradual and not really noticeable, it is baffling scientists. They can’t find any reason for the land to lift up! They’ll continue studying until they solve the mystery.

Computers are great at math, and games like Go or chess. But one researcher thinks a better test of AI, or artificial intelligence, would be to make it play Dungeons and Dragons. True intelligence can also be shown through storytelling, and the stories aren’t always logical. AI that can master D and D would be the ultimate test!

Phoenix Wilder Showing Today Only

Today is Save The Elephant Day. Many countries have taken steps to save endangered elephants by banning ivory, but elephants are still killed illegally for their tusks. The movie “Phoenix Wilder and the Great Elephant Adventure,” will be showing today only, at selected theaters across the United States. Watch it and learn about elephant conservation.

Cheating in the Middle Ages

It took 600 years, but the Medieval cheater was finally discovered. An archaeological site in Norway has uncovered many dice from the Middle Ages over the years. One of the wooden 6-sided dice just found, had two sets of 5s and 4s, instead of sides with 1 and 2 dots. Somebody was using it to cheat! Shame on them.

You might have to wait until May 25th to see the next Star Wars movie about Han Solo, but at least you’ll have something to do while waiting. The new Star Wars Lego sets were just released! From land speeders and Corellian hounds to Han Solo and the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon, there’s plenty of awesome stuff to build!

Mmm, Cinnamon-ey…

Wolferman’s gourmet bakery wanted to make something outstanding for the Pear Blossom Festival in Medford, Oregon. So they made a 1149 pound cinnamon roll! It easily broke the world record in its 6 foot by 9 foot pan. Since they didn’t have a big enough oven, they cooked it over propane burners. Now I want a cinnamon roll for breakfast!
