Denver, Milwaukee, Washington DC, Detroit, Pasadena, and Indianapolis have similar programs. The meters have happy faces painted on them because it feels good to help others!

Imagine if your head weighed 48 pounds! A bighorn sheep skull discovered in Montana is the world’s largest. It’s massive horns curl around for nearly 50 inches and are over 17 inches in circumference. The sheep had died of natural causes on an island in Flathead Lake. Maybe so many people complimented him that he got a big head!

Taronga Zoo in Sydney Australia has over 20 baby feathertail gliders! Also known as pygmy glider possums, 12 gliders were pregnant at once and the joeys have all emerged from their mothers’ pouches. The marsupials are so quick and tiny that zoo officials can’t quite count them. Adults are less than 3 inches long!

Scientists believe the Moon was formed by a giant object crashing into the Earth’s crust. A new study shows how the Moon started separating from Earth 4 billion years ago. The hypothesis is that the Sun was weaker, most of Earth’s water was frozen, and a hot Moon bulged as its poles slowly froze.

Scientists have figured out that today’s 4,500 species of cockroaches probably shared a common ancestor in the Triassic period. They’ve been evolving for 235 million years! In order to spread all over the Earth, they just had to sit and wait. When the supercontinent, Pangea, split into today’s continents, cockroaches drifted to world domination.

Callie Schenker in Missouri came home to a surprising sight. A dog was sitting on her pony! Her one-eyed pony, Cricket, gave Callie a side glance then trotted away with her neighbor’s corgi on its back. I guess even dogs want a pet pony!
