The Kepler Space Telescope has spotted many new exoplanets in our galaxy, but for the first time, multiple planets have been detected in another galaxy! Astrophysicists used gravitational microlensing to observe disturbances in light waves coming from a quasar 6 billion light years away. They discovered 2000 planets 3.8 billion light years away!

The temperature was -11 degrees Fahrenheit, but nearly 400 people still gathered in Winnipeg Canada to form the world’s longest chain of ice skaters. They held each other’s waists like a giant conga line and had to skate 400 meters without breaking the chain. They called the event Chain For Change and raised $145,000 for Cancer Care Manitoba!

Today is World Nutella Day. Nutella is a spread made from cocoa and hazelnuts. People love it so much that when French supermarket Intermarché had Nutella on sale at a 70% discount, customers were fighting each other for it! The stores had to hand out one jar per person to make them share.

February 6th is the launch date set for SpaceX’s rocket, Falcon Heavy. The payload for the vehicle will be Elon Musk’s car, a Tesla roadster. The Falcon Heavy will go into orbit past Mars, while its three booster rockets come back to land on Earth to be used again.

Some fifth graders in China are making world news after they got a crazy math test question. “If a ship has 26 sheep and 10 goats on board, how old is the ship’s captain?” was the unsolvable problem designed to test students’ critical awareness. The students gave creative answers including narcissism, animal weight, and licensing ages.

A cow in Poland has been spending the winter with new friends. She escaped her farmyard pen and is hanging out with a herd of wild bison! The wild bison population had gone extinct after World War One, but a small herd has been growing from a few captive survivors.
