The MacArthur Foundation awarded 100 million dollars to the International Rescue Committee and Sesame Street for their program to help young refugees. A version of Sesame Street made especially for Syria will be available for kids displaced by that country’s civil war. Hopefully watching Sesame Street can give Syrian refugees some hope and happiness!

YouTube star Casey Neistat turned an abandoned shopping mall in Milwaukee Wisconsin into a winter wonderland to surprise children from the Boys and Girls Club. He had a skating rink, sledding hill and gingerbread house, and snowboarders performed tricks on the escalators. Paul Leys of Samsung gave kids phones to learn to create videos.

A new app was launched at the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument in California. The game is called “Agents of Discovery” and is like Pokemon Go for real life. Visitors use their phones to collect points by spotting plants and animals in the desert park.

An asteroid that was discovered in 2015 will pass near Earth again next year. It is a dead comet that made its closest visit on Halloween that’s as black as coal and looks like a human skull! Next year the Halloween asteroid will make its flyby in November. Maybe it will look like a turkey!

It’s possible Mars could just be a big sponge that soaked up all the water and is still holding it underground!

An archaeological site in Vasagard Denmark has turned up more than 300 carved stones from the Stone Age, around 5000 years ago. The sunstones are small round discs with lines carved from the center like the sun’s rays. They may have been used as temple coins, maps, counting stones or in funeral ceremonies. They are still a mystery!

In the Colorado River Delta in Mexico, the Gulf corvina fish gather for a noisy reunion. The fish is a type of croaker that has a swim bladder in its abdomen that can make a drumming sound. Scientists recorded them and they are the loudest known fish. They sound like machine guns!
