Today is Walking The Dog Day. Dogs love to go on walks, even if they have big fenced-in yards. They want to smell what’s going on in the neighborhood! It’s also good exercise for you. Just remember to bring a plastic bag, and be a responsible poop-picker-upper. Nobody wants to step in that stuff!

David A Lindon is a micro-artist. He creates sculptures so tiny, they have to be viewed through a microscope. He created the world’s smallest handmade sculpture, measuring .02517 millimeters across. The sculpture of a LEGO brick, is the size of a human white blood cell. He works between heartbeats, so his pulse won’t interfere.

If you find yourself in Port Aransas Texas this week, you can attend the Whooping Crane Festival, celebrating the big birds’ return to their winter habitat. Whooping cranes grow 5 feet tall, with a 7-foot wingspan. The tallest bird in North America almost went extinct, but breeding programs are helping the wild population grow.

A zebra’s stripes, have long been thought to be for camouflage. The stripes help them blend in with tall grasses. But scientists discovered, that stripes also give them protection against blood-sucking flies. When researchers covered horses with striped blankets, the horseflies avoided the stripes. They preferred large dark objects the most.
