Happy Mew Year! Yes, you heard me right. It’s Happy Mew Year Day For Cats! I guess people weren’t paying enough attention to them yesterday. It’s also Science Fiction Day. On the birthday of one of the greatest science fiction writers, Isaac Asimov, read “I Robot”, and watch Dr Who or Star Trek.

David Rush’s goal last year, was to set 52 world records, one for every week in the year. He succeeded, with the last record of catching 2,173 flying discs behind his back in one hour. The Idaho man has set well over 100 world records! I wonder what he’ll think of next!

A boy in Texas will never forget this Christmas. He received a magnifying glass as a gift, and went outside with his brothers to try it out. They were focusing beams of sunlight, to catch newspaper on fire, but the paper set the grass on fire. Now they have a burned-up lawn!

Last week, some firefighters in Indiana were shopping at the grocery store, when they got an emergency call. They had to leave their groceries in the cart and rush out. When the firefighters came back to finish their grocery shopping, they discovered someone had paid for everything as a thank you! That was nice!

Today is Polar Bear Swim Day. Many people raise money for charity, by swimming in ice-cold waters! Brr! It’s also Commitment Day, a movement to lead healthy and active lives. Many cities have 5K FunRuns scheduled, or you can just take a nice long walk with your family!

Happy 2020! Did you stay up until midnight, to welcome in the new year? It’s a new decade too! Make a New Year’s resolution, by promising yourself you’re going to do something, or not do something. Can you keep your promise until next year? Good luck!

There are a few things that shouldn’t be recycled, including boxes of money. Workers at a recycling center in England, found nearly $20,000 in a box that had been dropped off. They worked with the police, to find the people who had left the container of cash. Those employees were incredibly kind and honest!

The Grand Egyptian Museum will have their grand opening in 2020, but they’ve already made their mark in the record books. Since the museum is located in Giza near the Great Pyramids, they created the world’s largest mosaic of coffee cups, in the image of King Tutankhamun. King Tut’s face consumed 7,260 cups of coffee!

Happy New Year! The year 2020 has begun in Samoa and Kiribati. The International Dateline runs through the Pacific Ocean in an irregular path. While Samoa is to the west of the dateline and among the first to celebrate the new year, American Samoa to the east will have a whole day to wait!

Today is the last day of 2019. I hope you all had a year filled with peace. In fact, from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on December 31st, is the Universal Hour Of Peace. Spend the last minutes of this year, and the first minutes of the next, at peace with everyone. Now, let’s make it last!
