Today is World Kindness Day. Try to think about each thing you do, and make sure you’re being kind. Then go out of your way to do one nice thing for someone. Can you do that every day? Think how great the world would be, if everyone treated each other with kindness!

The world’s largest living-cut Christmas tree, was lit in California this weekend. It took over 18,000 LED lights and 10,000 ornaments, to decorate the 115 foot-tall tree. The white fir is on display at the Citadel Outlets in Commerce, where an artificial snowfall will also take place every night for the rest of 2019.

14-year-old Alaina Glasser’s invention could save lives. Cars have blind spots, which are areas around the vehicle, that the driver can’t see in their mirrors. Alaina developed a system that uses a webcam, to project the hidden areas onto the inside of the car. The Pennsylvania teen’s project, won the $25,000 Samueli Foundation Prize!

Chicago Illinois is the first big American city, to do away with library late fees. As a result, more people have been visiting the library, and bringing their overdue books with them. Book returns have increased by an amazing 240%! It’s more fun to check out books, when you don’t have to worry about fines.

The Northern Taurid meteor showers are known for producing bright fireballs, and it delivered a spectacular one yesterday. In St Louis Missouri, residents saw the sky light up and heard a loud boom as a meteor blazed across the sky! It most likely burned up before reaching the Earth’s surface.

Today’s not a day for just any old rodent. It’s Fancy Rat And Mouse Day. Many people keep fancy rats and mice as pets. If you have a mouse in your house, leave out a little top hat and bow tie so he can be fancy too!

Amateur astronomers in North America, are excited about Monday’s special event. Mercury will become a black dot, silhouetted against the sun, and spend 6 hours moving across to the other side. People with a special sun filter can watch through a telescope. The rest of us can keep our eyes safe, and watch online!

8-year-old Tyler Stallings, has spent half his life helping homeless veterans! He’s been making Hero Bags, filled with clothes, toothbrushes, and other necessities, for veterans. Tyler has also raised over $40,000, to help thank them for their service. He’s even co-authored a book, called “Including Stories That Make A Difference By 75 Kids Who Changed Their Worlds.”

Have you ever enjoyed a nice relaxing float on your back, in a pool or lake? Veterans in the US are finding relief from pain and post traumatic stress disorder, with flotation therapy. Warm salt water allows them to float easily, and lower blood pressure, pain, stress, and anxiety. It’s like deep, healing meditation.
