Hug Your Teddy Bear

Gather all your teddy bears, and start hugging. It’s Hug A Bear Day! Although wild bears look cute and fuzzy also, it’s best to leave them alone! It’s also Bittersweet Chocolate With Almonds Day. It’s not the most common candy bar, so today would be a good day to make your own delicious treat!

Technology to the Rescue

When 6-year-old Ethan wandered off with his dog in Minnesota, 600 people gathered to find him as temperatures dropped. While their search line combed the area, Steve Fines flew his company’s heat-seeking drone across the fields. The 30,000 dollar drone finally located Ethan and his dog a mile from his house, cold but unharmed. Great job!

Disappearing Rock Reappears

Last month, the 2000 pound Wizard Rock disappeared from Arizona’s Prescott National Forest. Did someone steal the 1-ton rock, or did it magically vanish because it’s an actual wizard rock! Thankfully, the special black rock with white quartz streaks, has mysteriously reappeared. Park officials plan to move it to a more visible location.

Dark Skies and Fireballs

The Taurid meteor showers can be seen lighting up the night skies, from October to December every year. Tonight may be the peak, when you could see 5 to 10 meteors per hour. The exciting thing about the Taurids, is that they often produce brighter than average fireballs! Set your alarm for midnight, and start watching!
