In 1847, 16 year-old Hanson Gregory claimed the invention of the first ring-shaped doughnut. Pardon me while I go eat doughnuts!

Gayle Saye bought a lottery ticket in England. She’d picked the winning numbers in the Thunderball drawing, winning over $646,000! Imagine her surprise, when she realized she’d actually bought 2 identical tickets, doubling her money to over $1,200,000! Sometimew it pays to be absentminded! She said it was the best mistake she ever made.

HMS Urge Rests in Peace

A submarine that disappeared during World War 2, has been found off the coast of Malta. The British HMS Urge went missing in 1942, after being sunk by a mine. The University of Malta had been searching the seabed for years, covering 463 square miles, before finally locating the lost submarine. A memorial will be established there.

A Wave of Seaweed Diapers

Everybody wears diapers or nappies as a baby. They might have been disposable or cloth, but they probably weren’t seaweed. That’s about to change! A material called SeaCell, made from seaweed and eucalyptus, is antibacterial, absorbent, and biodegradable. SeaCell is used to make Sumo diapers, which are reusable, recyclable, and look cool too!

Yay, I’m Sleeping In!

In many parts of the Northern Hemisphere, like North America, you got an extra hour to sleep in this morning. The clocks went back one hour, since Daylight Saving Time ended. Many parts of the world changed last week. Not all countries use Daylight Saving, so it’s confusing! Just remember: spring forward, fall back!
