A new world record for most mariachis performing simultaneously was set over the weekend, in Robstown, Texas. More than 800 musicians in 42 mariachi bands performed “Las Mañanitas” together. They had to be dressed in full mariachi garb, including sombreros, to beat the current record set in Mexico, where mariachi music originated.

Montannah Kenney, a 7 year-old girl from Texas, became the youngest female to hike to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. The dormant volcano in Tanzania is the highest peak in Africa. She wanted to climb the 19,341 foot mountain with her mom, in order to get closer to her dad in Heaven and say “hi” from above the clouds.

At the Spirit of Texas Festival last Saturday, there was an ice cream sundae big enough for everyone! The mile-long ice cream sundae broke the world record and used 500 gallons of ice cream, 2000 cans of whipped cream, 300 gallons of chocolate and strawberry sauce, 25 pounds of sprinkles and 20,000 cherries! Sounds dee-eee-licious!

The founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, is installing a 10,000 year clock invented by Danny Hillis and the Long Clock Now Foundation. But Mount Baker, a ski resort in Washington’s Sierra Nevada mountain range, holds the record for most snow ever in one season: 1140 inches! That’s 95 feet of snow! I need a bigger shovel.
