Cigarette butts are one of the biggest pollutants in the ocean. 5.5 trillion cigarettes are produced every year, and most contain plastic in the filters, meaning a butt can take 10 years to decompose. If you know someone who throws their butts on the ground, ask them to please put them in the trash after extinguishing them!
