Frozen Past is Thawing Out

Global warming is causing frozen areas of the Earth to melt, uncovering fascinating specimens from the past. Moss that was hundreds of years old, and 42,000-year-old-roundworms, were still alive after they thawed out. Scientists discovered 15,000-year-old viruses, in melting glaciers in Tibet. They’re studying other microbes deep in the ice, before heat releases them.
