Harriet the Hero

Today is Harriet Tubman Day, in honor of the day the famous abolitionist died in 1913. She escaped from slavery in 1849, but returned to guide many people to freedom, using a network called the Underground Railroad. She led a military operation during the Civil War, and later fought for women’s right to vote.
