Lake Vanishes Under Thin Ice

Researchers were studying old satellite photos of Antarctica, and noticed a change in the landscape. In 20 19, a huge lake disappeared. The lake on Amery Ice Shelf, in East Antarctica, held at least 21,000,000,000 cubic feet of water. The ice layer supporting it likely gave way, draining the lake into the ocean below, in only 3 days.
