Were Prehistoric Artists Really Astronomers?

A new look at the famous cave paintings at Lascaux, created more than 15,000 years ago, may be signs of humans doing astronomy. Researchers believe the figures in the paintings symbolize constellations, and might represent an important celestial event, like the Taurid meteor showers. Other cave paintings around the world, also suggest prehistoric star-gazing.
